 Let me first apologize for the length of this review but ask that you be patient and read the entire review if you are considering corrective eye surgery. My name is Mike, I'm 48 years old and have had extreme myopia (nearsightedness) and astigmatism since the age of 8.To give you an idea of my vision, without corrective lenses I could not see the largest letter on the vision chart - you know, the big 'C' or 'E'. I have been very active my entire life with sports and outdoor activities and have been fortunate that for the most part I received adequate vision with hard contact lenses. Even though the contact lenses provided adequate vision, my entire adult life I have searched for surgical options to correct my vision. Unfortunately the technology has not been available early on and I have always been told that I was not a 'good' candidate for most procedures due to my extreme challenges and a thin cornea.

 I had been seeing another Ophthalmologist here in Jacksonville when my sister relocated to Jacksonville and told me she visited with Dr. Gulani about here own eye care,spoke to Dr. Gulani about my challenges, and advised that Dr. Gulani wanted me to call him for a phone consult. I was very surprised because most Doctors will not talk to you by phone, especially if you are not a current patient.

My sister insisted that Dr. Gulani felt confident he could assist me with my nearsightedness. I really felt I was going on another wild goose chase but thought I would give it a shot and see what new information might be available. My hard contact lenses had been giving me increasing discomfort as I have gotten older so I really was hopeful I could find a surgical option I felt would be safe and give me good results. Well, to try and make this story shorter, I did speak with Dr. Gulani on the phone and subsequently made an appointment to come in to see him.

On my first visit with him, Dr. Gulani looked at me and said 'Mike, I have a plan for you!' Dr. Gulani explained that he wanted to insert Visian ICL's and then perform PRK to correct my astigmatism. I did not jump on board right away even though Dr. Gulani is very thorough and patient in explaining his plans. I advised I would have to think about it. I actually visited Dr. Gulani's web site www.gulanivision.com on many occasions to hear other patient testimonials and to read about Dr. Gulani's experience. I also reviewed Dr. Gulani's credentials with the Florida Medical Boards web site. I visited with Dr. Gulani again and brought in 3 pages of questions - Dr. Gulani listened to all of my concerns and addressed them each. Then it happened - I became so comfortable with Dr. Gulani and his confidence that I decided I was going to go for it - I wanted the surgeries. My eye surgery journey for both eyes has taken about 2 1/2 months but it has been well worth it. I'm pleased to say that I am now reading partially on the 20/20 line and hopeful this will continue to improve over the next 60 days.

Dr. Gulani is an amazing and caring surgeon with a true passion to help his patients. I will share one more story to try and convey the type of surgeon and man Dr. Gulani is... after each of my surgeries, Dr. Gulani would personally call me at home to check on me that very same night! I was shocked that a Doctor, a surgeon, would take time out of their schedule to call me that same night - especially since I was going to see him the next day for a follow up appointment.

Needless to say, I have been very happy with my experience with Dr. Gulani and his staff and the results have truly been life changing for me.
